The Wind Is a Warrior

Hello to everyone,
One of our followers, Dakota, over at An Authors Life For Me has sent us a song for us to publish. Dakota, here is your award for sending it in!
And for you all, we present Dakota's poem.

*Bappys are baby parrots

The wind is a warrior

The wind is a warrior,
From it lessons you can learn.
Moving air, but so much more
From it knowledge you can earn.

It can be gentle,
And help bappys at play.
It changes from place to place,
And from day to day.

It can be strong,
Pushing on a parrot fleet.
And, in all its power
An army it can defeat.

Unseen but felt, and often heard,
The wind is respected by any knowledgeable bird.
Used in peace, and used in war,
The wind is a warrior bearing know sword.

Learn from it, and the wind can be a blessing.
It pushes on scarcely resting.
And the winds example seems to cry without fear,
“Onward to victory. Persevere! Persevere!”

We also asked her some interview questions that we will ask everyone who publishes on the blog. Thanks Dakota, it was great to publish out first piece on here!

1. How long have you been interested in writing?

Probably five or six years now. Its been a journey. I think it first started when my Dad read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings to me several years ago. My sister and I started writing a story that was practically copying The Lord of the Rings. Later, when I started reading Redwall and The Guardians of Ga'hoole I got the idea to write a book with animals as the main characters. Or should I say more specifically a parrot as the main character. So, to make a long story short, I've been traveling the long winding road that only authors know and enjoy for around six years.

2. What was your inspiration for this song?

Though I had my own book about parrots, this song I actually wrote to put in a book my sister was writing.

3. What would you say your style of writing is?

That's a tough one. The book I'm writing now is fiction. If you crossed Redwall and The Lord of the Rings you might get something that is a similar style to my book.

4. What's your inspiration for writing in general?

I write mostly because I love doing it. I feel that writing is a gift God has given me and I hope to use it for His glory.

5. One more, would you be interested in publishing something on Traveling Tales again?

Definitely.
Do you want to publish something on Traveling Tales? Why don't you send us an email at travellingstories@gmail.com.
