What's your problem? What is taking up so much time that you can't write, and does it have to take that long?
2. Science, English, math, literature, foreign languages, commitments...they're all whirling through your head like a huge cyclone. You only have seven days before the cycle starts all over again! You manage to do it all in good time, but by the end of the week you are completely exhausted. Writing completely flew your mind.
Is that you? You really are busy! You may not be necessarily wasting your time or putting things off, but you still honestly do not have any time to write.
This is what you should do: evaluate your priorities. If you want writing time, something else is going to have to go.
Here's a way to evaluate priorities: sit down and make a list of everything you do every day. Extracurricular activities, school, homework, Bible reading, showering, eating, sleeping...absolutely everything that takes any time.
Look at your own list and pick out the activities that are most important. That would be commitments involving other people like jobs , responsibilities such as schoolwork, and other things like basic hygiene (such as showering...). Plus things with real value like Bible reading or spending time with your family. Those crucial things are what you should not cut out of your schedule.
Next look at the very least important things. These are things that have little value in the long run or things you do mainly for fun, such as recreational reading or computer time.
Eliminate the not-very-important-things from your schedule, and try that for a week. Hopefully, you should find some time to squeeze in writing.
Cutting things from your schedule requires sacrifice, so you really need to consider what you value more: writing or [fill in the blank]. Which is more worth your time? Which do you truly enjoy more?
But what if, after carefully examining everything, you find that there is nothing you can cut? In that case, it's very simple. Writing is simply not your top priority right now. If there are other responsibilities in your life that take all your time, then you might have to put aside writing for now to focus on your priorities.
This concludes the two part time management series! Hopefully I'll be using my own tips and actually have time to post more!
Yours without wax,
Izori
