Grace--One of My Characters From Invisible Angels

Grace

Grace by SputtyDancer featuring a heart tee
This is Grace Richardson. She's Jocelyn's best friend, and I'm going to tell you about her in this post. I bet you could tell, Grace is a very peppy, sweet person. She loves hard candy and she plays a lot of sports. Lots of sports.
She met Jocelyn when she was about 10-11, when she moved to Emory, Maine from Chicago. She comes from a big family with two older sisters who are twins and three older brothers, two of them are twins as well. She also has a younger sister who is 11 and turns 12 in the book. She loves her family a lot and love hanging out with them. Her brothers are in a band with Jocelyn's cousin Corey.
People didn't expect Jocelyn to be friends with Grace, it was sort of a discouraged relationship because everyone thought that Jocelyn would be a bad influence on Grace. People would try to be nice to Jocelyn and then they would give up after a little while. Poor Jocelyn. But Grace stuck with her and they were friends for a long time. At some point in the book Jocelyn stops liking Grace, but that soon changes by the end of the book.
Grace is really good in school, having pretty much all A's and B's. She goes to public school with Jocelyn and her siblings and she loves doing things for the school. She's also very active in the church (her dad is the senior pastor), she's involved with the youth group among other things.

"That was what Jocelyn liked about Grace, or one things that she liked about her. Some people thought that Grace was weird because she had actually had kept up a friendship with Jocelyn, they expected their kids to be nice to her for about two weeks and then give her up as a lost cause"--Invisible Angels, p.5

Grace would do a lot of things for Jocelyn, she loves her a lot even though she knows that Jocelyn doesn't exactly love her back. I'd go into that some more, but this is about Grace and not Jocelyn.  Grace, being Grace, never puts herself first, but that's not to say that she doesn't have her faults.

At times, Grace doesn't see when she goes too far. She doesn't realize that she can make people uncomfortable when she asks them certain questions. At times, she very pushy and somewhat bossy and she tends to get ticked off easily, but for the most part she's pretty nice. She tries not to show that she doesn't like certain people, but it's hard for her, like it probably is for everyone.

Grace also has a special relationship with Corey--it's not romantic though. They are the only two people that Jocelyn will really talk to or share anything with. They're the only two people who can even make an attempt to read Jocelyn, even though it's easy to guess that she's usually not happy.

“I think something’s wrong…” That was Corey,
“I don’t know, she seems pretty normal to-,” Jocelyn couldn’t hear Grace say anything else,
“I’m not sure, I don’t even think she’s eating.” Corey got a bit louder,
“Shut up, of course she is.” Jocelyn could see Grace beginning to turn away, but Corey grabbed her wrist,
“Look.” He said fiercely, “I’m just worried about her. Jocelyn is like a sister, I don’t want her to mess herself up.” His voice softened a bit, he hadn’t let go of Grace’s wrist, he began to plead with her. “Please, Grace. Just make sure she’s all right, she’ll tell you stuff that she won’t tell me.”
Grace withdrew her wrist, Jocelyn could imagine her making a face at Corey, but her answer betrayed Jocelyn’s imaginary image.
“I know,” Her voice was filled with tears, “I know. I’m worried too.” She reached up and gave Corey a quick hug.
“It’ll be okay.”
Invisible Angels--P. 31 (and a bit of 30)

So that's pretty much Grace. Is there anything else you want to know? Just comment!

Now I have to get back to writing my book. Excuse the weird font things please.
