Writing is all about inspiration, creativity, and imagination. All of those things are like motors, propelling us along with our creations. And motors need to be started somehow.
How do you start your motor? There is no right or wrong answer to that question. Different people have different methods for starting their creative motors, and what works for one author might not work for another. Here are some ideas to start that motor:
1. Do you work with or without music? Some people find music distracting when they're writing, and other people can't write without it.
2. Inside or outside? I can go either way on this one. Fresh air is a great idea if you're feeling tired of staring at a computer screen, but there are also a lot of distractions outside. I prefer to get my ideas outside and then go inside to write, but, like I said earlier, everybody's different.
3. Goals? Does it help if you set a clear word goal for the day, or does it make you feel pressured and obligated?
The only way to find your 'motor starter' is to experiment. Of course, there are many more starters out there, but I've just listed three.
Yours without wax,
Izori
