Okay, so we've had this blog for a while now, and we've been writing about writing for a long time. We've posted Pep Talks, tips, questions, book reviews and more. But you may be stopping by here or following and wondering, why should I write anyway?
Well, darlin', here's why.
1.Writing is just like any other art such as painting, dancing, singing and acting. Through using it you get to express your thoughts and write them out. You can fiddle with ideas until they're just right and you're happy with them. You can say what you would say with your diary through fiction, you can write what you would tell people if they were asking a question and had about two days of free time in non-fiction.
2. When you're writing, there aren't really any rules. Sure, if you want to get published, you'll be hearing "show, don't tell," until you're ears are numb, but for the time being whatever goes. I wouldn't say you should turn off spell checker, but I think it's nice to have the freedom.
3. Though story writing isn't for everyone, it doesn't mean that just because you don't like to fully finish a novel doesn't mean you aren't allowed to outline one or write a short story. Heck, no one even needs to know about it!
4. When you write, it's fun to see where the story goes. It's nice to know what's happening and plan out different things that are happening. You can do whatever you want plot-wise, as long as you feel comfortable it. I've heard so many times that you shouldn't write to make other people happy, cause it's impossible to make everyone happy, you should write for yourself.
5. If you don't like something, you can always trash it. That's probably one of the best things, you can always just walk away and say "I don't like it anymore, it's not enjoyable, and it's not working out." Note: I don't advise this, but when it's necessary, I would say that it's alright. 2nd Note: Don't do this when you're making dinner, please. If you leave the oven on or the stove or something you might end up with a fire. :)
So, do you have any questions, any other reasons why someone should write? Comment until you're fingers are numb!! Numb I say!
