Three Ways To Improve Your Writing

#1. Follow writing blogs for tips and advice from experienced writers. (or even not so experienced, like iGirl and me =)

#2. Read as much as you can. Choose books wisely (only read ones that are well-written and clean) and learn from them by taking note of their styles and expressions. Any genre will do; in fact, a variety is best. I suggest books by Charles Dickens, Brian Jacques, Cornelia Funke (especially Inkheart), and Agatha Christie (the Hercule Poirot ones are generally better than the Jane Marple ones) to get you started.

#3. Practice, practice, practice. Short stories are wonderful ways of practicing every technique, from style to structure, and don't take too long. I love to write random ideas on paper scraps, put them in a bag, mix them up, draw one, and then write about it.

Yours without wax,

Izori
