DON'T READ UNLESS YOU NEED. IT WILL RUIN IT FOR WHEN YOU NEED IF YOU READ NOW. WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE IN DIRE NEED OF ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THIS TO BE FULLY EFFECTIVE!
So, you haven't wanted to write for a long time? Well, that's not good, especially if you're usually all over writing. Well, do you know why? Maybe? Some of the reasons are obvious, you're busy, you're tired, you've lost interest and the list goes on and on and on. I would suggest something very simple first.
1. Go over what you were doing before you lost interest, think about your book. Did you add something that you didn't want to? Did you agonize about everything so you were afraid to go back? Well, figure that out and we can find an answer.
2. How do you get back into writing? I would say listen to your favorite music, think of a random idea that you haven't thought of before, and write something. Write a stupid little story, it doesn't matter how long, the new idea will be more exciting and will, not to be too technical, excite you! Don't pick something from that place where you keep your ideas, think of something totally new. Think of something like a summer acting camp that has phantom costumes or an old camera that has magical powers to see what was happening during every picture it took. Just write.
3. After you've done that, set a goal for yourself, you don't have to write that book that made you not write. Chances are you should leave it for a while, but just write a little everyday. Everyone has a minute of free time so write fifty words one day, 100 the next and so on, then you'll get yourself back into writing slowly.
4. Once you're comfortable with writing again, write that book that made you feel bad. Don't reread anything, just plow through that part until you can chose something else. The same goes if you just ran out of ideas, just write about a dream or introduce a new character, they work wonders.
So there you have it!
P.S. You better not have read this if you didn't need it. I will come and hunt you down with a torch and a big freaky pitchfork like they do in Beauty and the Beast, then I'll brainwash you and make you think you never read anything. Toodles! :)
P.P.S Just kidding :)
P.P.P.S Really, I am! No need to get defensive :)
P.P.P.P.S haha
P.P.P.P.P.S I'm done with all the P.S's now,
P.P.P.P.P.P.S Toodles!
Hee, hee -- good advice. :) I needed this. Being sick for over a week has taken its toll on my writing... I need to get going again. :)
