As summer is nearing for us American-folk, a lot of people are on break. Me being one of them. Well, over the summer I don't like to have super laid out plans, but this one is a little different. I'm going to dance (obviously), run a camp, have a book club thing for younger girls and all that fun stuff. One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to read. And write. But mostly read.
Summer of 2011 I had very ambitious reading goals, I read:
The Hobbit
The Lord Of the Rings Trilogy
All the Narnia Books
Les Miserables, unabridged
That was over 4000 pages. And I finished, so hoorah for me :P
The summer before that I read all the Harry Potter books and some other stuff. Well, I read the HP books in a month, so that's not the whole summer, but you get my point. This year, I'm still trying to figure out what to read.
I have two ideas so far.
Idea #1: Read two or more books a week, one completely fun, and one that's not as fun. Maybe non-fiction, or something historical or above reading level.
Idea #2: Read classics and old books and books that would give me more bragging rights.
I think I'm leaning towards Idea #2, but I'm not sure. Currently on my list are:
1984, Anthem, Atlas Shrugged, Jane Eyre, and Emma. I know, two completely different worlds of lit here. I don't know if I'l read those for sure, if I'll add some, take away others, this is very loose right now. I think that that when you're reading over the summer, you should choose something lengthy, because typically you'll have more time on your hands.
Maybe you should pick something above reading level or just really long. Or you could go for quantity and read a bunch of fun, fluffy books, because that's always fun. Whatever you do, I wanna hear!!
